I think that it is a bit more complex than this. I am vaccinated and unfortunately went through covid just 4 weeks before I got the vaccine. So you can imagine my personal view on this. But as someone that has been working with emotions for close to 15 years I have to say that we need to see the fear that these people have. It is a 3 level fear. Fear of the unknown - a fear that can't be rationalized by any means. The hardest form of fear to break in therapy combined with collective fear. We must remember that emotions are contagious and so many anti-vaxxers have found others that share the same feelings. The words are just a way of trying to makes sense of their emotions. Instead of saying I am afraid and I don't know why. All of this is combined with strong individualism that is core of American culture. Logic won't work in this case. Empathy can. On a positive note: I find it very interesting that were fighting against each other in last years election are now on the same page. I do hope that people actually recognize that and reflect on it before next election debacle starts.
